BEING AND BECOMING (2026)

Being and Becoming
(2026) by Sylver Green and Kaya Savelson explores the theme of queer love as a revolutionary practice. Motivated by their unconditional love for eachtoher, they created this work. Growing up together and transitioning through life has helped them understand themselves and each other in a deeper way. Being and Becoming is a “love tent” built using wood and cyanotype fabric.

Outside of the tent viewers can engage in a cyanotype workshop with a partner. Partners create a composition together using two pieces of paper, simulating the idea of community, love, building, and creating something together. The viewer is able to leave the space with an artwork that reminds them of love as a practice and how they connect with their own/ others' queerness.

Inside of the tent, the viewer is confronted with audio of the artists voices recalling times growing up together and how they view themselves, one another, their love and their queerness. The viewer is asked to add to a web of thoughts about love and queerness and how they experience those things, building a poetic map of collective experience.
